Schneller Sisters Professor of Leadership, Ethics & Values

North Central College named Thomas D. Cavenagh, J.D., the first holder of an  endowed faculty chair, the Schneller Sisters Professor of Leadership, Ethics and Values. Cavenagh is North Central's director of leadership, ethics and values; professor of business law and conflict resolution; and coordinator of the master of leadership studies program.

Cavenagh has been a member of North Central's faculty since 1990. He received his B.A. in philosophy and Biblical studies at Trinity College and his juris doctor from DePaul University College of Law. He has worked as an attorney at law for Conklin & Roadhouse and a mediator
for Dutenhaver & Associates, Ltd. Cavenagh has directed the College's Dispute Resolution
Center since 1993 and was appointed director of the Leadership, Ethics and Values program in
2006.

The endowed chair honors a long relationship between North Central College and sisters Cecelia Schneller Mueller, Mary Schneller Rosar and Adlynn Schneller Balfanz, whose major gift will endow the Leadership, Ethics and Values program. Cecelia and Mary were alumnae of the College, and their grandfather August Hasheider was a freshman when North-Western College, later named North Central College, opened its doors in Naperville in 1870.
