Andrew Whitaker

Grantman Professor in Business and Economics

Andrew Whitaker (right) holds the Grantman Professor in Business and Economics endowed chair at North Central College. He was named the chair's first recipient in October 2008. He is a professor of economics and finance, chair of the Division of Economics and Business, and a former Ruge Fellow.

Whitaker earned a bachelor's degree in political philosophy from Michigan State University and earned both a master's and doctoral degree in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

A member of the faculty since 1988, he is an expert in finance, U.S. and international economics, investments and financial planning and is often asked to give presentations to business and financial institutions. He also publishes a weekly newsletter "Economic Week in Review." He is an accredited asset management specialist, certified fund specialist, chartered mutual fund counselor and chartered retirement planning counselor.

The Grantman Professor in Business and Economics chair was endowed in 2006 by businessman Dale Grantman '50 (left) and his brother James in memory of their father John Grantman '20.
