D-Term
One of the most distinctive parts of a North Central experience is the D-Term, a 3-week period between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Your options during D-Term may range from research to independent study and from travel to internships, or other life-enriching experience and exploration.
This is an invaluable opportunity for you to create a new and exciting college experience within each of your four years of college.
Here are a few examples of what you can do during D-Term:
- Register for select on-campus courses, which meet 4 or 5 days a week for 3 weeks, to accelerate progress toward a your degree.
- Apply for funding for an independent study project connected with a 3-week D-Term International Travel Seminar. Recent study trips, part of our annual international focus, have explored Southeast Asia (Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam) and Cuba and Latin America.
- Engage in other special activities.
Three 10-week trimesters and plus a D-Term add up to greater variety and more opportunity for you to identify and pursue your dreams and passions.
