North Central College - Naperville, IL

For Current Students

The department of education prepares undergraduate teacher candidates and practicing teachers to facilitate the learning of all students, enabling both teachers and their students to act as informed, involved, principled, and productive citizens and leaders over a lifetime.

Our program focuses on preparing you to facilitate the learning of all students. Becoming a facilitator invites you to learn the complexity of teaching. The teacher preparation program defines this complexity as being comprised of five components: subject matter knowledge, pedagogy, student characteristics, environmental context of learning, and professionalism.

Starting in the 2013-2014 academic year the department of education's teacher preparation curriculum has been redesigned to meet the latest State standards for preparing teachers for K-12 schools.  The following resources will help you become familiar with our redesign.
